Sports Activities & Games
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Raigarh organizes sports activities
in accordance with the guidelines and sports programmes of Kendriya
Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS). Sports are an important component of the
holistic development of students, promoting fitness, discipline, teamwork,
leadership, confidence, sportsmanship and excellence.
Objectives of Sports Activities
The primary objective of sports activities is to make students physically fit,
active, disciplined and confident. Sports provide opportunities to develop
physical, social and personal qualities through regular participation.
- Development of physical fitness, stamina, agility and coordination.
- Development of discipline, punctuality and sportsmanship.
- Promotion of teamwork, cooperation and leadership skills.
- Development of self-confidence and a positive competitive spirit.
- Promotion of hard work, perseverance, patience and self-control.

- Identification and nurturing of sporting talent.
- Equal opportunities for boys and girls to participate in sports.
School-Level Sports Activities
The Vidyalaya conducts regular Games and Sports periods, Physical
Education, Yoga, morning physical activities and Inter-House competitions.
Students are encouraged to participate in individual and team games according
to their age, interest and ability.
School-level competitions provide students with opportunities to demonstrate
their sporting abilities and prepare for participation at higher levels of
competition.
Inter-House Sports Competitions
Various Inter-House Sports Competitions are organized to
promote healthy competition, teamwork, leadership and team spirit. Students
represent their respective Houses and participate in different sporting events.

Cluster and Regional-Level Competitions
Students who demonstrate outstanding performance at the school level are
selected for Cluster and Regional-Level Sports Competitions.
These competitions provide opportunities to compete with talented students
from different Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Regional competitions provide wider exposure, improve competitive skills and
give students experience of higher levels of sporting competition. Students
performing exceptionally well may be selected for the
KVS National Sports Meet.
KVS National Sports Meet
Students who perform exceptionally well at the regional level get the
opportunity to participate in the KVS National Sports Meet.
Selected students from different KVS regions participate in various sports
disciplines and age categories at the national level.
KVS sports competitions provide opportunities in different age groups,
generally including Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories,
subject to the applicable KVS sports programme and guidelines. Participation
at the national level provides valuable exposure and experience to young
sportspersons.
Identification and Development of Sports Talent
Sports talent is identified through regular practice, Inter-House competitions,
selection trials and performance at Cluster and Regional competitions.
Talented students are provided guidance, practice opportunities and
encouragement to prepare for higher-level competitions.
Students demonstrating excellence in sports are encouraged to continuously
improve their performance and represent the Vidyalaya at higher levels.
Personality Development Through Sports
Sports are not limited to physical fitness. They play an important role in
the mental, social, emotional and personality development
of students. Participation in sports develops leadership, cooperation,
responsibility, patience, confidence and decision-making skills.
Both victory and defeat provide valuable learning experiences. Through sports,
students learn to accept challenges, overcome setbacks, identify weaknesses
and continuously work towards improvement.
Opportunities to Progress to Higher Levels
The KVS sports system provides students with opportunities to progress from
the school level to higher levels of competition. The pathway broadly includes:
School Level → Cluster Level → Regional Level → KVS National Level
Outstanding sportspersons may also get opportunities to represent KVS in
national-level competitions such as those conducted by the
School Games Federation of India (SGFI), as per the applicable
rules and selection procedures.
Sports and Holistic Development
At PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Raigarh, sports activities play
an important role in the holistic development of students. Regular participation
helps students develop fitness, discipline, teamwork, leadership, confidence,
perseverance and a spirit of excellence.
The Vidyalaya continuously strives to provide opportunities for students to
participate in sports according to their interests and abilities, identify
their potential and develop their sporting skills to higher levels.
